Characteristic features of these methods are compared. In the era of Industry 4.0, their future prospects are predetermined by the rapid growth of the variety of cyber-physical systems and broad dissemination of Internet of Things, which are characterised by the presence of redundant information links between system components. It is shown how this redundant information can be effectively applied. These patterns are illustrated by examples, including those from the authors’ experience.
