The scenarios include varying the peak bit rate, mean burst duration, mean silence period, burstiness, etc. over nominal values based on a Markov modulated deterministic process (MMDP) model of packet voice and video services. The study investigates the effectiveness of the bursty traffic allocation and specification method on mean and burst policing in comparison with the leaky bucket.
