The proposed SIW based antenna operates at 5.3 GHz ISM band for wireless application. The basic cavity is obtained using a substrate integrated waveguide technology, in which copper filled cylindrical vias are embedded between top and bottom layer of cavity through substrate to convert non planar structure into a single PCB layer form. The entire structure with feeding component is incorporated in the same plane of PCB. The antenna is optimized using software HFSS. Besides having a conventional slot, in the proposed antenna, two rectangular slots having different lengths and angles but same widths on the top layer of the SIW cavity are etched from cavity and excited by a 50-ohm micro strip line inset feed. By properly optimizing the overall geometry antenna shows a gain of 6.53 dBi at frequency of 5.3 GHz. Structure shows stable bidirectional radiation pattern, efficiency is 90.6 % and VSWR is less than 2 throughout the desirable frequency band.
