Sliding mode control of converter in distributed generation using DSTATCOM
In this paper, a control strategy based on the sliding mode control is used to achieve robust control of a distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) which is controlled as voltage source converter for the grid interface of wind turbine-generator system. The DSTATCOM is used to control the voltage of the bus to which it is connected to a balance sinusoid in respect of the harmonic distortions in supply or load side of the three-phase system. A variable speed wind turbine generator is used to produce a variable DC voltage which is placed as input voltage source to the converter of the DSTATCOM. Easily implemented sliding surface provide prominent dynamic performance against changes in the load and in the input dc voltage due to wind variations. A control strategy for grid voltage control has been implemented in respect of the wind variations. The results are verified using PSCAD/EMTDC simulation studies.
