‘Inside Story’

In this chapter I endeavour to put forward a theoretical model for how innovative and participatory storytelling practices can support ecological values and behaviours in eco-pedagogical settings. This theoretical model— for which the shorthand ‘inside story’ seems appropriate—is based on my own ethnographic work with climate activists whilst also drawing on other academic and practitioner-based models. I discuss this model in the context of a broader eco-critical engagement with a repository of narratives and stories that represent an influential cultural domain.
