Work-related use of Information and Communication Technologies after Hours(W_ICTs) and Work Engagement in Service Industry: Based on Experience Sampling Method

Based on conservation of resources theory, data from 53 front-line employees of service industry in China was collected in four consecutive days using experience sampling methods (ESM). The relationships between W_ICTs and the three dimensions of work engagement were investigated from the perspective of individual regulatory resources, and the mediating role of state of being recovered was also analyzed. The results showed that W_ICTs had a significant positive correlation with the vigor, which is a dimension of work engagement, and state of being recovered played a mediating role in this relationship. There was also a significant positive correlation between W_ICTs and dedication, but the mediating role of recovery state was not significant here. W_ICTs was not significantly correlated with the absorption dimension. Finally, discussion about the enlightenment of theory and management practice was given at the end of the paper.
