Gerontolinguistics is the combination of gerontology and linguistics, with the elderly language health as the core of its research. A brief investigation of the health care industry situation in Shandong province, China indicates that the government has provided political and financial support and wealthy practical resources for the application of gerontolinguistics, which in turn helps release the pressure caused by the increasingly serious problem of population aging. A thorough review of the academic research status and trends domestic and international shows that research on the language health of the elderly is underway, but not comprehensive enough.
