Commutating failure of a single-phase line-commutated inverter
This paper introduces a new point of view to resolve the commutating failure of a single-phase line-commutated inverter. It is widely believed that the outbreak of this failure is due to the turn-off characteristics of an actual device. From this viewpoint, the safety marginal angle (/spl gamma//sub min/) has been recommended as a practice of engineering. However, this practical concept is completely inaccurate. Here, dynamic commutating failure is defined and studied. An algorithm and methodology for a systematic method of treatment of operational modes are formulated. Also a new method of recovery from such a failure is developed.<>
