In this paper, we put forward a concept by designing and implementing a smart home system which can classify and predict the state of the home based on historical data. We set up a wireless sensor network and collected months of data. By employing supervised machine learning technique, we were able to establish patterns and use the acquired information as a vital cog in our control system algorithm, thereby improving the intelligence of the home. We created a system capable of running with minimal human supervision, an attribute which makes our system an asset for senior care scenarios.
