Given the effects that radiation exposure can lead to, there is a clear need to have a system that affords appropriate levels of radiation protection in a situation where radiation is being used (Aschan 1999). For artificial sources of radiation, the medical sector is dominating the global occupational collective dose (Bhatt and Kulkarni 2013). Monitoring individual radiation workers is an essential and regulatory requirement for the surveillance of radiation workers in diagnostic and interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, and radiation therapy.
