A Qualitative Study on the Experience of REBT-based Dance Movement Therapy Group Program: Focusing on Victims of Domestic Violence
The purpose of this study is to confirm that the core of trauma treatment is to deal with the body, and to in-depth analyze the experience of the REBT-based dance motion treatment group program for victims who have experienced domestic violence. The REBT-based dance movement treatment group program was conducted for victims of domestic violence, and the meaning was categorized into meaning units, categories, upper categories, and topics in Giorgi's phenomenological method to examine participation experiences. The results are as follows. 112 semantic units were derived, which were classified into 31 subcategories, 12 upper categories, and 2 topics. Details are as follows. Participating in the REBT-based dance movement therapy group program, participants accepted key problems and emotions through their own trauma traces, observation of me and others' movements, expanded awareness of others, self-awareness through breathing, self-care practice, learning through group sources, and counselor's attitude. The second topic is growth after participating in the program. Participants showed improvement in physical and emotional care ability, understanding and acceptance of themselves, relationship improvement, and problem-solving ability through interviews after the program ended. Through these results, it is meaningful to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the group program, expand the scope of use of REBT, a traditional psychotherapy technique, and provide basic data for activating integrated application.
