The latest developments in the field of wind energy, both foreign and domestic, are considered. The authors assess the wind energy potential of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania with the distribution of average annual wind speeds in the regions of the country is given. A wind power plant (WPP) was selected for consumers of a mountain village, the parameters of a wind generator were determined depending on the developed power, and the power developed by the considered wind generators at an average annual wind speed was calculated, and the required number and cost of wind generators were calculated. Scientific and methodological foundations have been developed for the installation of a wind power station in mountainous conditions. The examples of combined (hybrid) WPPs that use equipment operating on the basis of various renewable and non-renewable energy sources are given.
