Due to the difficulty in math, a general and closed-form capacity expression has not been obtained in previous works. In this paper, in terms of capacity maximization, we derive a closed-form upper bound of capacity for joint transmit and receive antenna selection systems. Our capacity bound is general for the system in which Ms out of M transmit antennas and Ns out of N receive antennas are selected arbitrarily.
