Modular and Model-Driven Configurable Approach for a Centralized Home-Security System
Horne-security solutions are encountered for different types of users/facilities. The usual approach divides the complete solution into several steps: the hardware equipment procurement and implementation for local detection and signaling, the local software implementation, the communication equipment and the centralized integration in a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) control room. These steps require most times contractual relations with at least two companies and consequently assume imposed dependencies on hardware and software levels. The paper proposes a modular approach for the home-security solution using low-cost and popular hardware equipment on the local level and easily-configurable software application on all levels according to specific structure of the monitored space. A SCADA application is developed both for web and desktop monitoring scenarios on the central level. The proposed system is conceived to be an off the shelf and complete solution for apartments, with easy implementation by users with no programming know-how.
