There are several system are available for numerating microbial growth. Some of the existing method may be inefficient to accurately count the overlapped microorganisms. Therefore, in this paper we proposed an efficient method for automatic segmentation and counting of microorganisms in microscopic images. This method uses a hybrid approach based on morphological operation, active contour model and counting by region labelling process.
