This paper combines Conceive Design Implement Operate (CDIO) engineering education model and active project-driven learning method, and forms a new teaching method with “project as the main line, teacher as the guide, students as the main body, and CDIO ability cultivation” as the basic features. This method has been used to redesign and develop the course of IOT Engineering and Design in order to maximize the teaching effect of the course and provide a reference idea for engineering teaching reform. Because there is the long culinary culture in China. The low-power embedded devices are to promote its development. The embedded la carte system based on WinCE only needs low maintenance cost. It divides the server system and the client system. The client system is the mobile handheld embedded terminal which is in each guest room. It saves energy and reduces the cost for the human resource management. It helps the customers to order dishes automatically. And it uses the embedded VC++ technology and MFC framework. It uses the MP3 sound file decoding format and MPEG video files decoding format. On the embedded device, the system realizes to play the video and audio. The study on (CDIO)-based project of smart services in hotel and hospitality industries-driven learning approach for IoT Engineering and Design has been completed.
