The effectiveness of CORT program in developing critical reading skills for the 5th grade girl students

Abstract: This study aimed at investigate the effectiveness of the CoRT program in developing critical reading skills among fifth grade primary students in King Khalid Military City. Hafar Al-Batin Governorate, the researcher used the quasi-experimental method, and she also used two tools for the study. The first was the CoRT program, the fourth part (creativity), prepared by Edward de Bono, and the second was prepared by the researcher for a test to measure critical reading skills. It was applied before and afterwards on a sample of (60) female students. Divided equally (30) experimental, (30) control, where reading lessons were applied using the Kurt program in its fourth part on the experimental sample, and the teaching was done in the usual way on the control sample. By treating the data using the statistical program (SPSS), the results showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α≥ 0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group students and obtained a total average (12.87 out of 15) in contrast to the control group getting a total average (4.98 out of 15 At the level of the main dimensions of skills; Both the experimental and the control were obtained in skills (ability to analyze (12.40, 4.73)- and in distinguishing between facts (13.23, 4.83), and in passing judgments (12.97, 5.37), respectively, and all the differences were in favor of empiricism. The researcher presented a set of recommendations and proposals to implement the program in schools in the Kingdom and all Arab schools. الملخص: هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف على فاعلية برنامج الكورت (CoRT) في تنمية مهارات القراءة الناقدة لدى تلميذات الصف الخامس الابتدائي بمدينة الملك خالد العسكرية؛ محافظة حفر الباطن، واستخدم الباحثان المنهج الشبه تجريبي، كما استخدما أداتين للدراسة؛ الأولى برنامج الكورت (CoRT) الجزء الرابع (الإبداع) من إعداد إدوارد دي بونو، أما الثانية فقد أعد الباحثان اختباراً لقياس مهارات القراءة الناقدة. وقد تم تطبيقه قبلياً وبعدياً على عينة تكونت من (60) تلميذة؛ مقسمة بالتساوي (30) تجريبية، (30) ضابطة، حيث جرى تطبيق دروس القراءة باستخدام برنامج الكورت في جزئه الرابع على العينة التجريبية، وجرى التدريس بالطريقة المعتادة على العينة الضابطة. وتم معالجة البيانات باستخدام البرنامج الإحصائي (SPSS) وأظهرت النتائج وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى الدلالة (α≥ 0.05) بين متوسط درجات تلميذات المجموعة التجريبية وحصلت على متوسط كلي (12.87من 15) في مقابل حصول المجموعة الضابطة على متوسط كلي (4.98 من 15) وعلى مستوى الأبعاد الرئيسة للمهارات؛ حصلت كل من التجريبية والضابطة في مهارات (القدرة على التحليل (12.40، 4.73)- وفي التمييز بين الحقائق(13.23، 4.83)، وفي إصدار الأحكام (12.97، 5.37)؛ على التوالي، وجميع الفروق لصالح التجريبية. واستنادا للنتائج التي أكدت فاعلية برنامج الكورت (CoRT) في تنمية مهارات القراءة الناقدة لدى تلميذات الصف الخامس الابتدائي؛ قدم الباحثان جملة من التوصيات والمقترحات لتطبيق البرنامج في مدارس المملكة وعموم المدارس العربية.
