Aviation Weather Data Processing with Spline Functions
Weather phenomena have significant influence into air traffic. Accuracy and continuity of meteorological data which are used in aviation specify flight safety. Nowadays, most of airports include meteorological stations. Results of current weather measurements are specified in meteorological aerodrome reports which are issued periodically and are shared with worldwide airspace users. In the paper we research an application of developed linear regression model for weather data interpolation and extrapolation by end-user equipment based on weather reports issued in half-hourly intervals. Proposed model uses a spline function as a regression function and supports multivariate data processing. Results of numerical application for continuous report reading during 24 hours for Boryspil airport indicate better performance of Bspline functions in comparison with polynomial functions.
