Modelling photonic bandgap structures in the microwave region near 10 GHz
We designed and characterized photonic bandgap (PBG) structures in the microwave range. A PBG slab waveguide was defined by inserting line defects into a PBG sheet. Low-loss coupling to dielectric strip waveguides and external coaxial connectors could be achieved.
