This paper presents a comprehensive comparison of the performance between the two most widely used BD-IPT systems in EV applications - a parallel tuned inductor-capacitor-inductor type BD-IPT system and a series tuned inductor-capacitor type BDIPT system. Mathematical and simulation models for each system are developed to investigate both their behavior and sensitivity to variations in circuit parameters. The validity of the mathematical models is verified and the efficiency of each system is investigated using simulated results based on 2.7 kW prototype systems.
