The purpose of the work is to improve the efficiency of increasing the overall contrast for complex monochrome images in automatic mode. A new approach to enhance the image contrast by adaptive piecewise nonlinear contrast stretching in an automatic mode is proposed. A new technique to adaptive increase in the overall contrast for complex monochrome images is proposed based on piecewise nonlinear transformation of the dynamic range of image brightness.
