A real-time discrete wavelet analysis based fault detection and classification algorithm is proposed in this paper. The presented algorithm is principally based on the detection of fault generated transient signal. The fault type is identified by comparing various wavelet features of signals of all three phases. The simulation study is carried out using ATP-EMTP and MATLAB wavelet toolbox.
