Resonance ionization mass spectrometry of Mg: The 3pnd autoionizing series
We have utilized stepwise multiphoton excitation to observe autoionizing Rydberg states of magnesium. We observe the 3pnd series which converges to the 3 p 2P0 limits of the Mg ion. Our measurements extend up to n=40. A preliminary quantum defect analysis will be presented.
