Modified round-robin scheduler for Pareto traffic streams
The modified round-robin (MRR) scheduler intended for the UBR (unspecified bit rate) ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) service, in the case of bounded Pareto input streams, is described. The modification takes into account the actual input queue lengths in order to decrease cell loss rate. Input and output sequences have been investigated from the fractal and the multifractal point of view. Simulation results prove that the MRR exhibits some advantages compared to the classic RR scheduling.
