FTN-based MIMO transmission for efficient coexistence of broadband and sporadic traffics
This paper presents a method to interlace a sporadic traffic into a broadband traffic so that radio resources can be efficiently shared by both, beyond the Nyquist rate. The concept of faster-than Nyquist (FTN) transmission is employed to free some subcarriers from a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system with orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM). Furthermore, we showed that offloading subcarriers with the ill-conditioned channel matrices reduces the performance penalty of FTN transmission, allowing 15.6% increase in channel efficiency with a 1dB more bit energy per noise ratio than Nyquist transmission.
