Two Modes of Ground Penetration Radar Antennas for the Radargram Creating and Subsurface Inhomogeneities Detection
The results of laboratory experiments to study the characteristics of antennas to optimize data processing algorithms for non-destructive testing and remote sensing are presented. Two methods of applying antennas using the developed mount are proposed. One method involves receiving a signal to the polarization of a radiating antenna. The second way of placing the antennas (second mounting matrix) allows one to register signals in cross-polarization mode. The measurements of transition and impulse characteristics of the developed antennas were carried out. The obtained results made it possible, first of all, to evaluate the frequency properties of antennas as partial harmonic filters. This, in turn, allows one to better understand the features of registration and subsequent processing of UWB signals of modern ground penetration radar (GPR) and, using the obtained data, to improve the algorithms for processing and interpreting information about internal heterogeneities, for example, subsurface transverse cracks in road pavements.
