The application of the knowledge base as an information-based and efficient knowledge management method to the engineering team has been recognized. It’s important to evaluate the management capability of the knowledge base according to its function and find the direction of optimizing the knowledge base to improve its applicability in engineering team. Therefore, this study constructs a knowledge base management capability evaluation index system from four aspects of knowledge acquisition, knowledge storage, knowledge application and knowledge innovation, realizes comprehensive evaluation by AHP and cloud model, and takes the knowledge base of a power design team as a case study to verify the effectiveness of the built evaluation model. The results show that the overall management capability of the knowledge base is in the “medium” level, and low innovation capability leads to a more scattered evaluation cloud diagram with greater uncertainty.
