A generic synchronous machine model for real time training simulators
This paper presents the development and validation of a generic synchronous machine model to be used in real time power plant training simulators. The model accurately simulates a wide range of training scenarios including normal operation, malfunctions, and specific equipment symptomatic tests. The model developed is based on IEEE's Model 2.2 (a sixth order model) with modifications added in order to include effects such as magnetic saturation in the air-gap, residual magnetism, and rotor velocity influence on voltage. The model is validated comparing calculated and plant data for various scenarios. A good approximation between simulated and power plant data is obtained.
