Modelling of Optical Fiber Characteristics Using QR Optimized Memory Polynomial
With the development in optical fiber communication technology and the use of fiber for very long distance communication, nonlinear fiber effects became prominent. Fiber nonlinearity results in generation of nonlinear intermodulation products and the signal power spreads in band and out of band. This power spread degrades bit error rate performance of optical fiber communication system. Predistortion is becoming popular to mitigate these nonlinear effects and for design of a predistorter accurate modeling of nonlinear effects of optical fiber is necessary. In this paper, optical fiber characteristics have been modeled using QRD optimized memory polynomial. Simulation results show the performance of QRD based predistorter in terms of adjacent channel leakage ratio and error vector magnitude.
