Being HVIT critical assets to monitor and protect power systems, it is relevant to identify which are the methods to take care about their condition during their lifecycle. To supply academics with knowledge of investigation tendencies on this specific subject, a bibliometric analysis was conducted to identify the most relevant publications. It was found that research is mainly concentrated in three areas, calibration of HVIT, maintenance and diagnostic of HVIT and high frequency current transformers employed for partial discharges test. After a compressive bibliometric analysis over the research subject, 24 very close related references were found and described through the literature review. Despite its importance, there is few research on the subject, especially when it is compared with investigation on other HV assets, as is the case of power transformers.
