Discussing The Complementarity Of Creation Based And Execution Based Solutions To The Feature Interaction Problem

The Intelligent Network architecture has been designed to facilitate and accelerate the introduction of new advanced telecommunication services in a cost effective way. However, a new service may interact with existing services in some undesirable ways. To face this problem, various approaches have been considered. The aim of this presentation is to give an overview of these approaches that pertain either to the Service Creation Environment or to the Service Execution Environment, and, by discussing the complementarity of the SCE and the SEE approaches, to propose the use of an Interaction Management System that acts in these two environments to detect and resolve interactions.
