Children Who Are Homeless: Implications for Educational Diagnosticians
Abstract Families with children are the fastest growing group of persons who are homeless. In order to address the educational needs of children and youth who are homeless, educators and diagnosticians must be aware of (a) legal mandates for the education of children and youth who are homeless; (b) barriers to education presented by school requirements; (c) effects of homelessness on children and youth; and (d) the role the educational diagnostician can play in the provision of services for these students. This article addresses these areas as well as offers suggestions for practice.
