Perception of science and Maritime technology students on selection criteria of Industrial Training (IT) placement especially in maritime and terminal port operation organization

This document reports the perception of Science and Maritime technology students on how they selected their Industrial Training (IT) placement. Samples are taken from civilian students who are going for their IT on September 2014. A total number of 21 students are required to read all the 19 criteria given or add their own criteria if any which to be considered in making their decision when selecting IT placement and to rank all criteria given to them from 1 until 19. The least numbers shows the most important criteria to be considered before selecting the IT placement and the biggest numbers shows the insignificant considerations in making the decision. Finding shows the most important criteria in choosing IT placement are, they make their own decision to explore new experience, select company which is related to their area of study, choose company that provides allowances, eager to apply their knowledge and lastly the location of the company. The last three reasons in selecting industrial placement are, they do not prefer to have relative that work in their future internship placement, they do not follow their friends' decision and lastly they do not do their own research for future internship placement.
