A method for pressing a crystallizing metal by pressure on a horizontal hydraulic press in order to obtain piston blanks for subsequent isothermal forging is developed. The pressing process is controlled by a computer control system embodied through the use of the modern industrial logic controllers and software. An interface for program control is developed.
