An Optimization Criterion For Three Phase Reactive Power Compensation
A new criterion based on optimization of the rms values of line currents is presented for evaluating the reactive elements required to effect dynamic compensation in an unbalanced three phase three wire system. It is also shown , with an illustrative numerical example , that the optimization can be carried out on each line current in turn. The procedure suggested lends itself to easy microprocessor implem and facilitates convenient binary switching of the Var compensators. Experimen results on a model unbalanced nonlinear load are also included.
