Analysis of The Relationship between Ambiguous Sentences and Diagrams in Technical Manuals

The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between ambiguous sentences and diagrams in technical manuals. It is thought that ambiguous sentences are sentences that do not express tacit knowledge sufficiently, and it expect that the diagram will help to extract tacit knowledge by considering the presence or absence of ambiguity complementation. As a result, it was found that figures and tables have a role of complementing the ambiguity of ambiguous sentences, and the number of figures and tables is proportional to the number of ambiguous sentences. Furthermore, it was found that a figure far from the ambiguous sentence was also used to resolve the ambiguity.
