This phenomenon is growing in many urban areas around the world. This paper aims to provide a social overview of graffiti phenomenon occurring in developing countries such as Indonesia, especially in urban areas of Jakarta. Through a qualitative approach, a review is obtained that the graffiti phenomenon in Jakarta is more likely a manifestation of existence of the graffiti actors both by individuals and groups in the social environment where they thrive.
