Toward positioning IoT-empowered service engineering in city platform as a service

Internet of Things, IoT, connects physical objects and the cyberspace, which provides potentials to leverage organization and business redesign. An increasing need of digital business integration presents a broad challenge for a wide range of industries. It requires changes in design and operation processes, which ultimately leads to an organizational change. The author proposes dimensions to provide positioning of an IoT service in a comparative framework. Then, the author presents a framework using the proposed dimensions to classify IoT-empowered service engineering. This provides a general framework to assess coverage of city-scale IoT platforms.
