The proposed ME-dipole antenna is made up of a half-wave dipole used as the electric dipole, a quarter-wave patch with both ends short-circuited used as the magnetic dipole. The electric and magnetic dipoles are placed at the same level of the substrate and fed simultaneously. In addition, a U-shaped metal plate is set below the substrate to introduce a upper stopband radiation null, a symmetric open-ended quarter-wave microstrips printed below the magnetic dipole to produce a lower stopband radiation null. Thus, the proposed antenna expresses good bandpass filtering response.
