Hierarchical PNNI addressing by recursive partitioning
We describe a recursive method for hierarchically partitioning a set of locations to generate bit strings that can be used to define switch ATM end system addresses for PNNI routing. The method was used in the implementation of a very large ATM network at AT&T, and is also applicable to PNNI-based automatically switched optical networks.
