User-oriented QoS streaming system based on multimedia differentiation
Multimedia services with provision of QoS streaming are the essential goal of using consumer devices over all-IP networks. Under undetermined network traffic and ambiguous user QoS requirements, a well-designed multimedia QoS system should adapt the resource reservation request according to the user QoS requirements and the network resource status. The paper proposes a user-oriented QoS streaming system (QOs and user-oriented, Qoo) to achieve user-level perceivable satisfaction based on the novel streaming and media differentiation policies. The Qoo system provides a user-oriented dynamic QoS specification and mapping (UDQSM) system to achieve QoS specification and mapping adaptively at the application layer. A user-friendly interface for QoS parameter authoring is designed in the UDQSM system. We propose a dynamic QoS queue mapping (DQ/sup 2/M) algorithm for QoS differentiation, and, to avoid the inefficient resource utilization originating from that, a popular service queue suffers congestion and the other queues are in the starvation state.
