The frequency with which the anticerebral autoantibodies circulating in the blood stream are detected and their titre depend upon the extent to which the brain matter has been damaged. Positive reactions with the cerebral antigen become apparent habitually by the end of the 1st post-traumatic week and continue to be present in the majority of patients till their discharge from the hospital and in cases of more severe injuries-even for a much longer time.
