Keragaman Spesies Pohon dan Pemanfaatannya pada Hutan Desa Kampung Ubadari
Papua is known to harbour high numbers of plant diversity and endemism, but forest conversions are on the rise. Although Papua has a high number of plant diversity, many areas remain unstudied. This survey was designed to document plan richness and diversity for formulation of the Ubadari Village Forestry Management Plan (Rencana Pengelolaan Hutan Desa Kampung Ubadari). We used 7 random transect (with 1,000 m in length), all trees (>15 cm diameter at dbh) were sampled in 75 plots of 20x20 m plot, Poles (10-15 cm diameter at dbh) in 75 sub plots of 10x10 m and Sapling (1.5 m high or <10 cm diameter at dbh) in 75 subplots of 5x5m. About 155 species from 52 families and 581 saplings, 86 species from 37 families and 236 poles and 135 species from 40 families and 848 trees were sampled. Shannon-Weiner Diversity Index (H’) for trees in transects are > 3, indicating high diversity and species composition between transects are also high show high beta diversity. Many species (36 percent) are represented by a single tree. Dominant tree species include Artocarpus elasticus Blume., Antiaris toxicaria Lesch., Myristica argentea Warb., and Pometia pinnata Forst. & Forst. (Bl.) Jacobs. There are about 70 species used by the community around Ubadari Village, mainly for house construction, food sources and medicine.
