A comparative study of the proposed codec with the existing works using the polynomial spline based transform and the biorthogonal B9/7 which is frequently used in image compression is done. Peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity index measure (SSIM) and encoding time are used for evaluation purpose. An Efficient Codec for Image Compression Based on Spline Wavelet Transform and Improved SPIHT Algorithm
