Final design and performance of the Fully Automatic Spectrograph for Transient (FAST)
The Fully Automatic Spectrograph for Transient (FAST) is an instrument under development which is going to be installed in the PROMPT-7 a 100% robotic telescope with an excellent guiding accuracy. FAST is a low resolution spectrograph (R = 60 and 600 at 6500A) covering the 3800A to 9200A wavelength range that includes an imaging mode. The instrument is expected to help the astronomical community to obtain the first spectrum of the transient, without human intervention, in a few minutes after its discovery. In this work we present a description of the instrument: the spectrographs principal parameters the instrument’s design. It also discussed the current state of the project and challenges that we have encounter.
