Some of its basic properties are described in relation to their manifestation in discourse. A number of different approaches to ideology in discourse (including critical discourse analysis) are presented. This is followed by an overview of a number of specific domains in relation to which ideology in discourse has been investigated, from the political world, through mass media and identity construction to language ideologies.
