The increasing amount of map data and related information have been stored on CD-ROM disks and DVD-ROM disks. In the latest HDD navigation system, the map data is stored on HDD, so the driver can operate navigation and the passenger in the rear seats can enjoy watching DVD-video at the same time. We describe the basic technologies of the HDD car navigation system that has many functions for operating as a navigation and music server.
