A zinc calcium phosphate ceramic was used to deliver sulfadimethoxine. In-vitro release in 0.1 M sodium bicarbonate was studied over a period of twelve days. Fifty percent of the drug was released by the second day while a slower release of the drug was observed during the next 10 days. Incorporation of sodium bicarbonate into the ceramic resulted in the total release of the drug within two days.
