One of the current trends that require appropriate professional competence is project management. It is characterized by the need to learn the methodology of project management as a new progressive toolkit in the public administration sphere, as well as the ability to develop and implement social, infrastructure and investment projects for the development of territories. Attention is focused on the main tasks that a public servant should solve in the communicative activity process. In the processes of modernization of professional training of public servants in the period of transformational conditions, the necessary skills are planning and implementation of changes; management of individual, group and organizational changes; monitoring and control of changes. The correlation of management trends regarding modern professional competencies of public servants and their characteristics are provided. Such professional competencies are singled out as relevant: intellectual, analytical, social, psychological, emotional, situational, extreme, digital, integral.
