As application case, we study the wind farm of Bizerte (north of Tunisia). This farm is composed of fixed speed wind turbines using squirrel cage induction generators (SCIG). We describe the wind turbine system and the technical requirements for wind generators connection to the grid and held at the voltage dips (Low Voltage Ride- Through: “LVRT”) according to STEG (Tunisian Company Electricity and Gas), then the structure and the modeling of the STATCOM are presented.
